I'm going to rec Half the Stars by

saeru. It's based on canon apocrypha that Megatron was a sort of failed weapon/experiment before being shipped off to the mines in IDW. I had the privilege of reading this story in a pre-beta phase about a year ago, and it has haunted me ever since and shaped my own headcanon of IDW Megatron. It is lovely, evocative, and a must for fans of Megatron/Optimus. I hope you check it out.
