I'm so thankful that there are dedicated people like you guys who have decided to take time out of your personal lives and very busy days in order that we, the fans, might have such easy access to material from our fandom!

However, if any of you ever start having regular real life situations that cut into your time/ability to do this news letter, then I don't think it's fair for you to be expected to retain this responsibility. It also becomes unfair for the fans when lapses start happening on regular basis because the news letter is no longer a service but a constant disappointment. One or two misses, even several in a row, is very understandable--life happens after all--but a constant history of misses is revealing of deeper issues. The looming new letter puts stress on the editor, who most certainly needs to be taking care of real life first, and fans become disgruntled and unsympathetic . This strain starts to make the news letter a bad thing for everyone all around, which is not what anyone wants at all!

If anyone of you no longer have the time or ability to add to this news letter, then I would think it would be a good idea for that person to consider abdicating his/her position to someone else who does. Doing so would help relieve unnecessary stress from that person and would keep the fans from being disappointed. Everyone would benefit!

Again, thank you so very much for creating and maintaining this news letter for us! If I had the time, I would certainly offer my services. I am sorry I have nothing other than suggestions to offer you. I just want everyone to stay stress free and happy. =)

A little off-topic, but I wish to ask something: may you please revert the community to basic? Unless there is an inherent reason to leave it as plus, the ads create large whitespaces at the begining of the post - which can be rather annoying to scroll past everytime you open the page, and they also throw the layout out of whack.

It's not a major issue, merely a niggle, but I would prefer to see it done anyway.

Thank you for your concern, commenter. In an ideal world, yes, that would work, but this isn't an ideal world as you've stated. Each issue averages around 100 links each week for the fic issue alone, and I haven't counted for the art issue or the meta issue.

Average time to pull together an issue is about 30 minutes each day to gather links, and about 2-4 hours to organize and link each link for the issue on posting day.

We have backup editors who can step in, along with myself, and sometimes Murphy's Law bites one on the aft.

I recently thought my mouse was dead on the computer that has all the links for #276 which is v. late. Oddly enough a mouse is v. essential to operate a computer efficiently. Who knew? And of course one should also account for illnesses that make it difficult to sit up and look at a screen without getting a headache or dizzy, which is what killed me that weekend I was covering for Delilah.

And of course let us not forget that occasionally Livejournal has problems with loading or working, considering the recent issues. And when LJ is down, there is nothing anybody can do until it comes back up.

Of course if you would like to volunteer, I would love to have more people helping out.

Thank you! It wasn't so much an issue with the other layout, only when it changed did I notice it. However, I do like the newer threads for the comm!
