Editor's Note

Dear readers,

this week was again quite prolific and many fantastic stories were written. I'd give you some recommendations, but I loved all of them. I only have to ask you one tiny thing.

Please, use headers! Or better said, give your stories a rating!

I can guess which continuity it is from reading a couple of paragraphs, but quessing at a rating depends so much on one's personal point of view. What to me is nothing but mild PG-13 could be to another a hard R or maybe even NC-17, and I really would not want to mislabel anything.

I was all set to go, "YOU MISSED NEVER DID RUN SMOOTH," because I know the author and also am on the fifty-yard line, so to speak, and then I went, "Holy shit, she's been beating that chapter for two weeks!"
It hurts.

Anyways, thank you for doing this. I only read fiction from the newsletter. I find it destroys my faith in the human race much less than going out and finding things on my own. Were it not for this newsletter, I would have given up on this fandom long ago.

Ah, yes, I do things to English grammar not legal in Texas.

My friend didn't update her story. The chapter isn't finished. I'm her beta, and I can't always keep "parts sitting in my inbox" and "parts actually posted" separate.

The story is nowhere but my inbox. I need to stop posting before coffee. Verzeihung!
(And that is my entire German vocabulary, besides "Klidenen enstachen (no idea how to spell that) "Ich nich habe Hausefgaben," and "sauber machen.")

I understand the last two phrases, but I haven't the slightest idea what you mean with 'Klidenen enstachen'. What is it supposed to mean in English?

Clearly, all my German I learned from my mother.

And now I am searching my brain for phrases like "So verlässt du mir nicht das Haus!" (overly-accurate translation: You're not leaving the house looking like that) that start with a K. Are you sure it is German?

Cool. Has you family been in the US for long?

I'm sure it's German. My mother, however, is a German major, so it might not be a phrase used by anyone else on this planet. I think it involves "die Kleider" and "get dressed." Mostly yelled at my six year old brother who wanted to go to school in his pajamas.
And we're Irish. None of us have ever been to Germany. ^_^

Do you mean "Kleider anziehen"? That would get the message across, but I've never heard it used that way. "Zieh deine Sachen an" would be the same.

Ah, well. I would do many things to no longer be in Germany, so we're even.

Yeah, that's it! I apparently can't tell where words begin and end. Then again, it's been ten years since I've heard that phrase. My mom finished her degree when we were little, hence lots of strange, simple German phrases. My brothers have both continued the study of the language and speak it fluently.
I'm the rebel of the family. I took French. My mom didn't speak to me in English for a month. (My mom's strange.)

There's a big difference between "understanding" and "being able to spell." Especially when it comes to me and German. For some reason, I can speak it just fine, but when it comes to spelling, I can barely manage "Ich bin eine Berliner." Which is really strange, considering I can spell French (intentionally difficult to keep the peasants illiterate), English (invented by the Normans to pick up the Anglo-Saxon barmaids), and Japanese (no comment!) just fine.
